I had a rather unusual case of almost instant karma happen today. Heres the story:
Last night as I came down out of the mountain passes after an uneventful day of coyote hunting I saw a small compact car in a bad spot in the road with its flashers on. Warner pass in eastern Oregon doesn't see much traffic this time of year, so I stopped and asked if I could help. Turns out it was a kid coming home from Utah for the holidays after finals weeks. He needed help alright because he had not a clue how to change a tire. I didn't change it for him but I did show him everything he needed to do. (Including which way to turn the lug wrench).
When it was all done he asked if he might buy me dinner when we got down to Lakeview. My response was "no worries, maybe just pass it forward some day".
So today it sent chills up my spine when I reached the drive up window at a McDonalds and the girl told me that the car in front of me had paid for my meal!
I wish I could have reached the people in the other car before they left to let them know how special that was to me, but I was only able to exchange a wave from my car and get a wave back before they pulled out.
My day has been made.

I have often wondered years ago I stopped at a car along side the road, he was out of gas, then I always carried a gal. of gas in the trunk. He was willing to pay me but I told him to fill the can and if he seen someone out of gas to stop and give the gas to them and ask them to do the same. Who knows. I no longer carry gas in the trunk, not a safe move.

Guess I'm a glass half empty kind of guy. Kind of sucks that your reward was McDonald's squirts.

Nice! I just don't know how they knew what your bill would be. I think if the folks buying paid with a credit card they just put whatever beaverpeeler orders on there.
Eh...wot?

peeler and 52Carl -
I'm right with you on the voodoo, magic horse-manure. But good ju-ju, karma, or whatever you want to call it, I find that I do subscribe to the notion. What goes around, comes around, huh? I try to pay it forward from time to time, and always seem to receive some payback, it seems although that ain't why I do it. Look for the good... Seems like about every time I pull some gomer out of the ditch, there's a real nice marten in a trap just around the next bend.

That is an awesome story. The world would be a better place if everyone did this.
