The 27-year-old robbery suspect was “shot multiple times in the chest and back.”
I wouldn’t put much faith in what was printed in the news. Could just be exit wounds. Exactly right. I think most folks would be shocked by the inaccuracies in what I am sure are most news stories. I know the few that I've had first-hand knowledge of, I couldn't believe the amount of information that was wrong. I'm not talking about obvious political spin and outright lies you read and hear on the major outlets, just the errors in day to day stories reported locally.
Eh...wot?

Yip, way too early to accept any details.
Based on the few news stories that I've had first hand knowledge of....
Writers (I refuse to call them journalists) grab any fact and fill in tons of blanks with subjective, or even flat out false information to make up enough bulk to fill the ___words their editors have allotted for the story.

It is pretty much understood that to use that firearm to defend yourself; you will easily spend a year's salary in legal defense. And, in the process will more than likely loose that current job you are counting on.
Better than a dead statistic?..... I think so.

Ok, I'll let my prejudice show...
27 year old suspect??? Usually those guys are dead or in prison. This one must have just got out.
Dang! A skill I didn't even know I had! I might just become a journalist.

My uncle and I were talking to his UPS driver yesterday the discussion of the UPS being kidnapped and held hostage and being killed came up. During the conversation I asked what's UPS's stance on drivers defending themselves? He said they aren't even allowed to carry pepper spray let alone a gun. I asked if they are reconsidering that policy and he said he wasn't aware about it but highly doubts it. New Mexico what would you expect

I asked if they are reconsidering that policy and he said he wasn't aware about it but highly doubts it. I was a supervisor for UPS for several years. They are not allowed to carry ANY weapons what so ever. I brought up the idea of allowing concealed carry permit holders to carry to defend themselves. I brought this and many other ideas such as hiring armed security at the hubs citing numerous workplace shooting that occurred at various hubs. I pursued this for a couple months taking it to regional management in writing (as i was asked to do). I was greeted one day by several members of upper management and HR and told to cease and desist immediately that my actions were making a number of people uncomfortable. I asked them to explain to me exactly who I was making uncomfortable. They did not have an answer. Then they reviewed the anti weapons policy witth me asked me to sign another copy of said document (i had signed one a few years before as oart if my new hire paperwork. All that stuff most people dont read.....) and the meeting was the last i heard about it. I no longer work for a company that doesnt care about its employees.
Get out there and play in the dirt. A little dirt never killed anybody.

Several years ago, in Minneapolis, a former disgruntled factory worker came back and started randomly shooting people. A FedEx driver was onsite and became one of the victims. Had I been that driver, there's a chance the outcome may have been different. I am an independent contractor, and do deliveries for a number of companies. On any given day I may deliver to: - Schools
- Government Buildings
- Private company loading docks
- Offices
- Crime ridden neighborhoods after dark.
- hospitals
- any other imaginable place that needs a shipment picked up or delivered.
I guarantee I am legal and prepared for any or all,...regardless of company policy. I would love to share my system(s) with other drivers, BUT: If the policy makers were to become informed, they might police more, and/or become even more restrictive. Most drivers do so as a career, to support their family. As such, they care more about obeying the rules than remote but serious possibilities. For me, driving is a retirement "job". I could care less about being dismissed for some rule infraction.

That driver was racist. That kid he shot was turning his life around. He had 2 kids and was planning on getting his GED and becoming a hip hop performer.
Fed ex better be prepared for a lawsuit and they better fire that driver. He had no business defending himself while trying to earn a living
