I'd guess that if your sets have been in that area for a couple days most foxes already know they are there.

True but would they return to them or start the hunt else where?

Hmmm, guess that depends on what side of the bed they wake up on! lol

Like the post about the fox visiting three groups of three sets, indicated by the fresh snow, I have observed the same. Yesterday I followed a pair of fox tracks along a cut soybean field that has a steep bank down to a river which runs alongside it. I have sets up on the edge of the field and down along the river. The wind was coming off the field and down to the river. Had half an inch of fresh snow on top of the previous days sheet of ice and it was eleven degrees out. The two foxes knew where each of six sets were and would walk along the field edge a ways and then cut down to the river. They checked each of my sets along the way. Caught three there in the past week so it's just a matter of time until I get another.

My conclusion, they learn quickly and remember where each of your sets are.

You are certain they have been there before and were not newbies wondering through?

A newbies nose wouldnít tell them where your sets are?

Can only guess they've been there before because they certainly knew where my sets are. Prior to yesterday's soft snow we've had a crust of ice for two mornings so I've had to tinker with my sets, probably leaving enough sign to keep them cautious. Today looks dry. Gonna head out in a few minutes, hopefully better luck today.

I don't think a newbie's nose would have smelled the two sets(each set is actually two sets about eight feet apart) down by the river because of the wind direction. Plus, they seemed to bee line right to each set..but ya nevah know!

Two other sets at this location.

She could have been the one that visited these two as they were froze down.

Glad to see you scored! I got one large male Red this morning. You're so lucky to have bare ground, our's is covered in a sheet of thick ice with snow on top.
