Had 4 sets that had tracks right up to them and stopped 6" to 12" from the pan then moved on. On one he peed alittle on the edge of the dirt pattern. i'm doing everything I always have that has caught me fur, but now I keep second guessing myself; to much bait, not enough, wrong type of bait, etc. Going to just leave them as is and hope I connect, At least my snares don't have this problem. Maybe I caught all the dumb ones and the smart picky ones are winning.

Are these new sets or old sets and lures the critters already know about?

Sometimes there isn't a answer to what a critter does or doesn't do. Some time critters just aren't In the mood.

Yep, leav'um be... I used to fiddle, mess, scratch, brush, relure, rebait, add more urine.. now just throw a handful of dirt on whatever part of the trap is showing and move along. If your basics are solid you'll get 'em.

Stop second guessing yourself. It will get you making poor choices. If you are doi g everything the way it worked before it will work again. Be patient. Be confident.

Had all of my sets under snow/ice they were trampled tracks and digging in several place redid the sets and only 1 mangy yote so far. I feel your pain.

This same frustration is shared by many a coyote trapper. Usually finding a set like this is followed by a mouthful of expletives.

Hmmm, maybe it’s a good thing I can’t see tracks down here. I just assume nothing came by, lol. Would like to trap in snow one day just to see how the critters react if no catch is made.

One of the main things is you have them set in the right place. Went with a friend to run his line, he had a bobcat and it had to be released. He reset, man was he sloppy IMO. I was thinking what a waste of time, well the next day he had another bobcat. Remember you are trying to get a wild animal to step on a chunk of steel the size of a beer can or smaller. Good luck.

2 had been out about a week on one property the other 2 had been out 4 or 5 weeks, on a property 3 miles away. one had caught a skunk and was a remake.

If you can find any turds to put behinds sets they will likely be sniffed. Basically turds from any animal will work, a little better if they are from some other area.
