Got a big yote yesterday weak back hair I see when I pull up to it, instead of the mange between the shoulders this one had thin hair there but the guard hair from the ribs back was missing across the top of the back. 2nd one in the last month buddy dropped one off a few weeks ago asked my to clean it up.

At least it’s not as bad as past years it ran way higher in past seasons. It seems the forward mange is being replaced by the lice on the rear now.

3 years ago 40 percent of my catch had mange. It sure dose irritate a person after all the work you put into catching them !!! But nothing we can do about it , harvest them and get them out of the system !

Univ of Alberta is doing a study of their province of what the Dog Louse rates are, over several years, so it will be interesting when their data get published.

Sent in samples from an otter hat that had 12,000 lice off it...it appears to be 3 separate species.....to top it off I did not see one before the washing and filtering.

Vegasjim that one is a 15,000 + 1 catch; right
a specimen with a lota louse's = lice
and one lousy specimen

those 12,000 lice took 16 hours to pick out of the alcohol, then to identify a sub-sample countless hours
how long did it take to get ride of the yote.......Eddy Match only knows the answer

Law Dog- I bet there's still some coin to be made even on that fur wrecked yote. If the skull is intact, cleaned up they sell on ebay. The skinned out head and back a ways-- don't have to take to the shoulders but could maybe if their good and your going to toss the hide any--salt dried will sell for people who want to make yote part trinkets and stuff on ebay. A good, deboned dried coyote tail also has an on-line market, maybe not much but if you're going to pitch the animal anyway...

Have had a lot of that lice issue show up down here as well. This year has been better so we will see how long it lasts.
