Hi all,

Did some searching but couldn't find the exacts answer. Caught my first otter and was wondering if I can freeze it along with the beaver skins Ive been freezing to flesh all together at a later date. I imagine its fine, but would just like to hear it from someone who has done it before? Still have to make a stretcher as well.

Also, in montana we have to provide the lower jaw for data collection? Will i be able to get it back, or is it gone? Thanks

freeze the otter pelt just like the beaver pelts no problem.

Freeze it fur out so the leather doesn’t dry out.

It will freeze fine.

You may not get the jaw back, but if you make friends with the biologist you might be able to.

They are probably collecting the teeth for dna and age samples.

I have left frozen unfleshed otter for a year before putting them up. They turned out like I had just caught them. I think I got $180-$200 each for them. The good ole days.
