I’m still fairly new to this, but it seems if I make a catch or catches in a location one year, that I can reset and make a catch the following year. I don’t have the terrain to find tracks over 75% of the property, mainly just look for scat. I set these areas when I started out just based on observing prey.
It now makes it easier when resetting the following year just putting traps back where I caught the year before. One spot along a bend in the road has produced 2 coyotes, a fox, 2 coons, and a possum...all within a 5ft radius of the actual previous set location.
Guess my question is, can I count on this being the norm provided the terrain doesn’t change?

I always set the places I caught last year. In fact, if I can see why it was a good place I might put in a couple sets and scope up the partner.

Like you, I don't trap places where you see a lot of tracks. I try to read the land and figure out corridores or focal points and set them up. If I do a good job there is fur and if I was off I check empty traps.

I've had a lot of success on locations over multiple years. Most likely because the location produced because it was on a travel route. Every once in a while a location that was hot will go completely dead for whatever reason. I would say the "norm" is for a location that has produced before to produce again. At least here.

The only constant in trapping is change so keep learning.

Agree... I caught 3 coyotes at the same spot last year and have 4 at the same location this year.
I keep setting the same trap / bed and using the same earth anchor. If it's working don't change anything!!

I hit the hot spots in my notes every season. This is a location I trap every year. I keep moving northwest after every catch. There is a fence behind me that I’ve snared 2 in this year, and caught 2 in a dirt hole set. This guy is number 4 in the two track.
