Looking at a double long spring trap with a CF stamped near the eye on the spring and a pretty square pan. Anybody have any info on what it might be? ThankS

Sounds like a hand forged trap but without any pictures it would be difficult to give an opinion.

Look anything like this? This is a John Watkins (Boston trap maker) trap from around the 1840's. Most of his are stamped with his name near the spring eye and they have a pretty distinctive square pan. Post some photos if you can, it'll help.

Very nicely made forged trap you got there!!! Glad to help you out with the pics but definitely not my area of expertise.

That is a very cool old trap. Nice! I have never heard of a CF spring or trap before.

Not familiar with that one either but it's a good looking trap.

Whoever the maker is they built at least a few traps. I have this spring in my parts pile.
