well, I have been wanting one for a while. So I broke down and bought me one yesterday. Recoil isn't bad at all. Very accurate out to 75 yards with open sights but I wont shoot a deer that far. Bought it mainly to hog hunt from bow stands and probably shoot a few deer. It should be on bad hombre on hogs with the 225 grain Barnes HP's

Nice,,,, .44 mag is a fine caliber. How long is the barrel? Don't forget the ear muffs.

Very nice. I bought that ones little brother last year and I love shooting it (.357 mag Taurus Tracker)
It has become my go to sidearm when I start trouble with the feral hogs.

the 8.3 inch barrel. I got the blued version. I put in ear plugs and used my ear muffs. I am pretty sure it would still be loud as hec even without the ported barrel

I have my eye on a Marlin 44 magnum lever gun. I was shooting a tad high at but shooting a good group. I just need more trigger time. it is so thick down here and I am so accustomed to bow hunting that I can get in on good deer in tight quarters. I can say for darn sure that being a bow hunter for many years has made me a much better deer hunter overall.

Sheepdog,
Back in the 80's I bought a Dan Wesson in .44 mag to shoot in competition. I later took it to Texas to hog hunt. My load was a Hornady 300 gr XTP with 19 grains of WW 296. 10" barrel, 2X Leupold scope, although barrels are interchangeable on the Dan Wesson revolvers.
Long story short, one hog I shot was quartering to me at about 35 yds, shot on the left front shoulder, we found the bullet under the skin on the right rear ham. Full length penetration. If the Barnes aren't to your liking the Hornady could be another choice.
