Is there a place a person can buy them?

Most small butcher shops, that process hogs, make cracklings once or twice a week, when rendering lard. You should be able to find a list of butchers in your area online.

Boy, that brings back old memories from when I was a young kid. When grand parents butchered, mom always helped rendered the lard and we ended with crackling she made us. Wow, what a treat that was. Those were some hard times and treat of any kind were really special. It seems to me, for me, those times are reoccurring.

I just bought a 60 pound box of pork fat trimmings for summer sausage construction.


I think it was called 72% or something like that.


A person could easily render that stuff for cracklings.


I got it from the local processor, he had a pallet of it.
