Dang Posco how big is that first bear in your pics. His claws look like a bunch of Bowie knifes There's not a dimes worth of difference between those three bears, they all squared in the eight foot vicinity. The difference is the pic you asked about was a coastal brown bear quite literally shot with the ocean lapping at my feet. A female. The other two were taken in the interior and are/were solid grizzlies. The bear that is skinned didn't have a tooth in its head that wasn't decayed and all of its canines were broken off from fighting. A mature boar at seventeen and a half years old. I shot him on the last day of the hunt two hours before the plane arrived. The plane was five days late picking me up and it's the only bear I saw that trip. Shot him right on the lake not far from my tent. What a brute of a buck you have there. That's the stuff dreams are made of.

On Dec 15 I started hunting at 9:00 A.M. and had the winter moose quartered and hanging in the yard by 11:30. My dream is to cut that time to 2 hours by shooting the next one in the yard.

Never shot a moose but I have helped to butcher a few steers over the years .I would think it would be much easier getting one close to home than in the bushes and swamps

You know what they say about moose hunting; it's great until you get one.
