I still like to use push pins but I need to replace & get more.

I bought 5/8” metal pins from a reputable supplier in the past. The length is great but the pins separate from head often enough to be really annoying. The plastic pins from the discount store last longer but those are only 3/8”. Does anyone have a source for 5/8” or longer metal pins that stay together?

Watch out for the aluminum ones with the cheap points. They are softer than the good ones and bend very easily. No good for nothing.

I used to have a lot of trouble with the aluminum heads coming off when I'd get the 5/8" pins from trapping suppliers. Then I bought several hundred from an office supply place and don't have any trouble with the heads any more.

They might have been Moore's but don't remember.

Eh...wot?

I am only using the aluminum push pins on my rat boards and store them in a small cottage cheese container. Sometimes when reaching in to get one, I get stuck. How do you guys store your pins? I tried using just a small plain sheet of carboard, I might try a Styrofoam block next. Also, do you guys clean them at the end of the season? if so, how?
I still prefer my electric staple gun for coon, and because it's adjustable have a pretty easy system for getting them after the coon are dry.
Thanks

Magnet. It pulls a bunch out of the container and grabs them by the points.

I keep mine in a small box, getting stuck is an easy, although somewhat painful way of getting them out. grin

I may have to try Boco's idea.

I use a masgnate with a handle about 6 inches long. Stir it in the container of pins and it picks them up, you just pick the pins off the magnate as you need them.

Get stuck is nothing, lot worse things then that, all part be a trapper, I use pushpins on skirt, electric staple gun on rest, unless plywood boards, all staples
