Just bought one very hand in locating traps that have drifted over with snow or disturbed in any way. A real time saver as it boosts your confidence rather then doing the old foot stomping around. It saves going back in the spring several times on the bigger drifts. I bought a Bounty Hunter model for $87.00 after $30 off and $18.00 in Cabelas bucks it works well for what I needed it for.
Will see what it can do on other stuff this summer.

Could yo share a Brand or Model? In that price range look at the Garrett Ace detectors, they range from low 150ish to 400 at the top end. I run a Garret AT Pro which was in the 600 range when I bought it 6-7years agos

Could yo share a Brand or Model? I’m kind of partial to the mine lab Xterra, they’re old enough that you kind find pretty good deals. One of my Top finds was with my daughter’s garret 250.

Cant go wrong with a minelab, my dream machine is the E-Trac. Although the new Anfibio multi seems interesting but I will let it get to a few model years old and see how its still doing before I add it to the want list.

Snare Loop, check out the Nokta Macro Simplex Plus. $250 ish new, without headphones. $340 with headphones. Made in Turkey. My next purchase in the spring. Waterproof to 10 feet, has adjustable ground balance and getting great reviews.
For bird shot the pin pointer is your best bet.

Brand new to me, the kids got me one for Christmas. Never had one before. Tried it out today, first find was an old beer can ha ha then a toy matchbox car. A lot to learn on this I see. Adjusting the setting so it does not detect junk, then I don't seem to get any rings, so makes you wonder if it is working. Gonna be fun for sure but back to Muskrats tomorrow. Your gonna find Junk, that’s just part of it. What gets me the most is old 150 year old tin can pieces.

If I'm in an area I plan to hunt often and going back to regular. I sometime just dig everything get the junk out of the way. Can be a real trick sometimes to separate a wheat penny from junk if their right next to each other. Mac

Low tone for the rusty tube and high tone for the round end, it will take awhile to get use to , most metal detectors are geared up for round objects. but never get discouraged ,one you get used to a detector you can find and identify stuff better then a new guy with a high end machine. rusty buttons and steel buckles will make you scratch your head. wait to you get around a old house with zink jar lids.
