My understanding is that even though it's the American embassy in bahgdad Iraq, the protests are due to iranian-bqvked Hezbollah goons, so it's basically Iran causing the riots. I haven't paid too much attention, I'm sure someone else can give better details.

The Embassy in bagdad is the most fortified US embassy in the world.

I imagine the group this morning had a little different attitude when they woke up to 100 extra Marines on top of the building. I'm also betting that when President Trump said this will not be another Bengazi. Realizing it wasn't president hillary the thought process was a bit different.
