We had some rain last weekend an close flood conditions or pretty high water on streams. Was not flooded however, was resetting, was getting 1-6 rats in places a check, now nothing, wonder why not?

I usually catch more rats after a water rise.

Maybe it was enough to flood huts or disrupt their normal routine. Maybe do some recon, as you may need to adapt to the new normal. Good luck coonman!

I wonder if tap dancers walk into a room, look at the floor, and think, I'd tap that. I wonder about things.....

The first thing the rats do in a high water situation is leave the hut or den, but as long as some of the hut is above water they will climb up onto it. So if you have sets made on the houses you will like catch those rats. If the water gets above the hut or stays for an extended period of time the will leave to find or dig another den higher or build another hut in shallower water.

So you early catch could result in this situation, but then they left for better conditions. If the water recedes fairly soon the may rehabitate the old hut..
