Any clue as to the average price of an Oliver 550 ?

All depends on condition and options. Pretty sure some of those even came with power steering. I’d say a fully restored model could go upward of 10k while a barn find could sell for as little as 500$. I would think an unrestored, running unit would be fairly priced around 2k give or take depending on options.

What are they asking? The blower is a cool useful implement. I can’t think of any reason it would be any more or less difficult to work on than any other tractor of it’s age.

I have a 1950 Farmall Cub. Thank goodness there is a forum devoted to that specific tractor as it has bailed me out of many a problem. Not unlike here, you'll find the most knowledgeable guys in the world devoted to that specific topic. If you get the tractor, find a forum devoted to it and join...you'll likely be needing it. Don't be afraid to get your hands dirty.

I am not familiar with the olivers much, but most of those older tractors are about as easy as it gets. I have rebuilt several fords and farmalls and none have been hard to work on.

They are easy to work on. I've never been one to mess around with anything mechanical but when I bought that tractor it forced me to be my own mechanic. Timing, valve adjustments, governor rebuilds, tinkering with carburetors...easy stuff once I conquered my fears.

We have a small army of Oliver’s that we collect. All the 2 digits and all but one of the 4 digits. The 550 is just like the super 55 we have. Very good tractors, easy to work on. Is it a gas or diesel? Most are in the price range of 2-3 thousand depending on options and condition.
