Don't know the correct spelling, but it is something like " transient ischemic attack" From what I understand, they can't really do anything about them . My question is, if it is caused by a blood clot , and that blood clot dislodges itself , where does that clot end up going ? Does it clot up somewhere else, or does it just break apart ?

Yes I have heard of them. There are members on here who have experienced these. Maybe they will share some information

My Mom used to have them. Short periods of being totally out of it. Then once the episode passed, she didn’t remember any of it. Strange.

I don’t remember what caused them or any of the details. As a daughter sitting there with her, it was scary.

Don't know about yours spacific question, but after my heart surgery 29 years ago, I have taken Warfarin to fight against the big clots and the low dose, 81mg aspirin for the little ones. One a day. Might help?

walleyed hasn't had any big or little stokes yet but since I was diagnosed

with Atrial Fibrillation they've had me juiced up with Zarelto and 81M aspirin.

So far, so good.

Our body is constantly making and breaking down clots. TIAs are temporary (transient) states of inadequate blood flow to enough of some area of the brain to cause symptoms. Can be clots, low blood pressure (low flow state), supply/demand mismatch. Whatever, then flow is restored to a sufficient state that the symptoms resolve, usually fairly quickly and are leave no permanent after effects. If the symptom don’t resolve that’s a stroke. Small clots can cause these and sometimes people are put on some form of “blood thinner” to prevent them and hopefully a stroke.

About ten year ago I get a call from my Mama saying she was going to the hospital so I dropped what I was doing and headed there. They did test on her, I spent the night with her and truthfully was scared, she looked rough. Next day the Dr came in and said she was dehydrated and got that fixed. Then he said that in the testing they did they discovered she had a bunch of something that would take two men, a women and two small children to pronounce lol. We said what the world is that, he broke it down to mini strokes. She never knew she had them. Cancer got Mama, those strokes never effected her but showed up on some kind of test.

My wife just went through her second mini stroke. From what we were told, they are a warning that a real stroke may take place.
She wore a heart monitor for 48 hours, started an aspirin regimen and anRX to lower her cholesterol. She goes in for an ultra sound of he heart tomorrow.
These actions are all to make sure she does',nt have a real stroke.

I have read that mini strokes can cause dementia. So try not to have them!

HAVE A BIT OF KNOWLEDGE!

Couple month ago I had my vision narrow to small center of street-maybe 10 seconds--no issues but scary. I blew it off however my wife, who was with me, did not. Her email to our family doctor started a period of test/examination that resulted in final catheterization. Found was 3 heavily blocked arteries as well as cat. artery in my neck heavily blocked

I guess the doctors must have been impressed as they did not want me to leave the hospital and scheduled by-pass surgery for the next day! All went well albeit no great fun in the hospital for nearly 5 days. During followup we were pretty much told I was likely within days or hours of serious heart attack or worse.

I am old but went to gym 3-4 days a week for treadmill or bike for past couple of years just cause I "needed" to.

Never had any pain or other issues and even supposedly, "maxed out" in a positive way, the treadmill stress test just prior to catheterization. No pain or issues before or since, But am back to gym(Cardio Rehab). under supervision--no hardier or easier than what I was already doing--I was quite lucky/blessed apparently!

I learned that funny vision for about 10 seconds COULD be something to not blow off! I learned to listen to my wife of over 50 years for a change! Fortunately we live in a town with one of NC's great teaching hospital.

Ten seconds--much ado about nothing!! They called it a CAT-- that 10 seconds!!

I'v had three of them over the past 14 years. No rhyme or reason, always about 8 in the morning. I've had a bunch of tests, nothing determined, checked carotid arteries, blood sugar, etc.. They told me the next time have somebody bring me in asap so they can hook me up to see what my brain is doing. Not too worried about it, although the second one took a few days to get back to 100 percent.

The last one came on right after I started a 1200 mile road trip from the Seattle area to San Diego. I realized what was happening about 30 minutes into the trip. I had a deadline to meet so I powered through it, probably not the smartest thing to do, luckily it was a Sunday morning and light traffic. I started to pull out of in by Portland and was pretty much back to normal by Salem. I really shouldn't have been driving though.

My mother had a series of them They resulted in her getting dementia .The first one occurred at 78 years old and she died at almost 85 She went from a very young 78 that had a mind for numbers ,birthdays ,wedding anniversaries all types of events etc She was both smart and had an excellent memory . By the time she was 82 she did not know what day it was . The last few years of her life she never called any of us children by name . I do think she still recognized us however. They sometimes say that someone suffering with a problem with TIA'S stroke out .In no way should anyone ever ignore them as just something that will be OK the next day

I had one Oct 18 th.Double vision, upset stomach, no balance.I already took a small dose aspirin.
In the hospital they couldn't.see any damage to the brain at all.Turns out I had A FIB also.I now
take a blood thinner .
The double vision is almost gone ,but I still have a balance problem.I have to walk with a cane.

The doc determined that the stroke went to my inner ear instead of my brain.

It sure messed up my hunting and trapping this fall.
