Thought I just saw another post about Woolrich and how they had been bought by a European country and had raised their prices to align with prices overseas. I thought that poster said they still had some of the plaid hunting clothing, but prices were in the $400 range. But that could've been another forum. Your are correct with the pricing. WAYYYYY over priced & in the $300-500 range for yuppie type clothing. Looks like the real Woolrich days are over.

Yeah, I caught wind of this change of ownership by Woolrich back in July when I purchased a red chamois/flannel shirt as a 16th B-Day gift for my son. When I was 16 I was gifted a hand-me-down red Woolrich chamois/flannel shirt and I still have it. I affectionately refer to it as my "Deer Hunting Eve Shirt" as I have worn it on every Deer Hunting Eve (the day before rifle season opens) FOR 30 YEARS. Yes, it still fits.
So when my oldest son turned 16 about 3 years ago, I bought him one. I was impressed to see that his was EXACTLY like mine. Every stitch, the cut of the collars - everything was the same. Okay, mine is a bit faded. As my youngest boy was turning 16 in July, I returned to the clothing store to buy his. While the lady was ringing up the sale I told her the significance of the purchase. She then asked me if I had any younger kids who would also be needing one down the road as Woolrich has be bought out by some European business, etc., etc.
Sad deal. I'm sucker for tradition and a huge fan of high-quality gear. Looks like we will have one less option available.

Or Filson wool , made In The USA still I have their Double Mackinaw Cruiser I bought thirty-five years ago and it's still going strong. They make the same coat today but it will set you back around $500.00. Johnson Woolen Mills makes quality stuff as well.

Real heavy wool duffle is very expensive to buy now, around $80 a meter. But it is the best lining for moosehide mitts and mukluks.
Forget that fear of gravity-get a little savagery in your life.
