Huh? Those look like the same crappy prices every trapper is selling for. You don't think he can maybe resell that $20 fox for a whopping $40? Or those three $14 beaver for $28? confused

That's impressive.....especially the red fox. You guys made out like bandits given the current market. Good for you guys!

Of coarse those are "crappy" prices when compared with a few years ago. But $30 across the board for MN marten would bode quite well for AK marten. There was just a sale in Canada (Thompson Tables) where I think marten averaged $28 USD.

He bought 4 marten. They could have been 4 dark males? He could have a market for a small number of marten? I wouldn't read much into this. As far as the $28 average at Thompson, the marten tend toward pale according to Northof50 and the Auction that gave advances are most probably low balling after last years mess.

I agree; it just seems that across the board for all the species he sold the averages weren't too bad, relatively speaking.
Plus, $80 castor, not too bad.

Dirt, I don't think you realize the heft or size of MN. marten.

Sure they could be 4 dark to Bown XL semi hevis worth $30 a piece. Not out of line with current prices at Auction

Dirt he has posted picture's of the marten over on Logan's line thread of the marten for you to look at the colour and size. Yes the marten tend to be of the large and few in Minn get to the XXl size.
At the Thompson sale most were outright bought this year and very few were collected to go to the auction. Probably 1/2 go XXl or XXXl and at least !/2 go heavy grade as well at Thompson. Just look at some of Scooters pictures for colour reference.
.
.
Saturday there will be more fur bought at the Minn Winter meeting for some to post prices.
Thanks 160user for sticking your neck out and getting some prices showing....

Not many make a good or big semi. That was a great price for MN. marten. I think you'd be surprised if you compare MN. marten to your local marten.

Ahhhhh..... That was last June. The market this year is different. And not many Xlg #1 MN. marten, I agree with the butt caught comment.

The Marten trappers here may want to freeze their catch this year. With almost 2 yrs. worth of Russian Sables sitting, and bigger better North American Sables left over from last year, its a risk shipping them. Offers on the Russians have been very low, about $40 USD. or so average. This may account for northern Canadian Sables at Thompson averaging less than $29 USD. in Dec. of 2019. Almost all of those were sold and not consigned.
