Looked over that new ground I picked up the other day using Google Earth handy for finding the pinch points in the draws and you can measure the distance even from a known point, very useful in the rough country. It makes it easy to see what flows into what so you can set the best areas.

Even the flat areas you can see the lay of the land and how it lines up to the adjoining properties.

Very helpful in assessing spots for otter sets.

I have used it going to other states hunting turkeys. Looking at contours and edges, I know where to start on the first day at daylight without ever having been there.

I use it for pinch points for deer hunting all the time. The imagery can be dated but it's handy for locating beaver flowages, too.

This, at least for me, has a clearer picture than Google Earth does.

You don't have to enter an address if you don't know it, you can just enter a town nearby and drag to your area.

Not a expert several options on loading it, search the options until you see the earth on the screen I think it knows where you are “scary”. LOL When I went back it went back to the spot I was at last.

I still have lot to learn about it I just follow a roads to get to the areas I want to find I’m sure there is a easier way.

It’s a huge time saver while scouting. Can see what roads go where and how they connect and what locations look worth scouting on foot. When pushing into new territory it’s a huge savings on gas and time, don’t have to waste time learning the roads and scouting worthless areas

I’m planning to move to Nevada this year and I’m using it to start mapping out a trapline there already.

Use it quite a bit when it comes to bear hunting season if I need to place new baits and also before the trapping season to help find pinch points in new areas.

I've used it some for that, but have been on the same patch of dirt for 12.5 years and know the open country pretty well. It does come in very handy down in the brush though. The coolest thing that I used it for though was with my granddad. I work on a ranch, as did he, and my dad as well, for the most part. My granddad did other things in life but it pretty much revolved around punching cows, and the same with my dad. Dad does run crane now which pays better than punching cows, hahaha!! Anyways about 2 years before my granddad passed somebody bought him one of those tablets. He had never been to where I live, due to my grandma's health, so we had google earth downloaded on it and he could see all the country that I take care of, and had all kinds of questions about fences, pens, land marks, etc. It was just like he was in the truck with me and really meant a lot to him because he had always wanted to see this country. He had been through some of it back in the late 70s because he was cowboying on a ranch that is about 60 or 70 miles SE of where I am now. That app is handy for a lot of stuff but that use of it really made technology important
