I've spent the last couple days fixing stuff. It's nice to have the equipment to do so. I made a couple new firing pins for my over under trap gun using my lathe and mill. I had what I believe was a cat, get in my shop this past summer and must have turned on my scroll saw. I heard it running in the morning so it was probably running all night. By the time I found it, it had worn out a bunch of parts so I finally ripped that apart the other day and finished up machining new parts for it today. It runs like a champ now. Next is going to be fixing a propane torch that was broken. It may take some machine work and fixing some lawn ornaments for the wife. Then I have a wine press restoration to start. I'll probably start a thread on that here with pictures. The wife sneers when I buy new tools or equipment but it sure saves money and aggravation in the long run. I'm always fixing or making something.

Speaking of having the right equipment. I'm working on another lantern and need to change things up, both to make it easier for me and make the lanterns look better. I picked up some buffing bits for my dremel and brass brushes for a drill(Ineed to find a wee little drill). Plus I see one of these in my future.

Here's the lantern I'm working on. It's a 1942 Dietz.

I wonder if tap dancers walk into a room, look at the floor, and think, I'd tap that. I wonder about things.....

Here ya go chief:

as for your buffer, I would just buy a cheapo grinder at Harbor Freight, toss the wheels and put buffing wheels on it.

The link didn't work Finster. I thought I'd go with the buffer because without the guards on it I'd have more clearance. Plus I'm hoping to put a brass brush on one side. What does your wine press look like, wood, metal?

Having to tools is one thing, having the skill to use them is another.

I would do it just to help you out but I don't know if I would have the correct tooling or if my equipment is accurate enough and that's a one shot deal. If you want to roll the dice, maybe we can talk about it this summer.

The wine press is both. It's a wreck but almost 100 years old and it deserves to stick around. I may start this in the next few days so keep an eye out for the thread.

I look forward to it, I've enjoyed the ones in the past when you get out in your shop.

This should be a pretty good restoration. I'll be remaking most of the wooden parts. and cleaning and painting all of the cast iron. I just have to get the shop cleaned up and get in the proper mind set to get started.

I have been working for two days getting my shop back in order. Everything from the barn was shoved into my shop for a wedding we had there.

I don't have the equipment i want yet, but getting some now and then.

I am praying this is my last year doing ADC work and want to have a small engine repair, metal fab/blacksmith, and restoration shop by the end of this year.

As of right now, I have two old tillers to rebuild, an old wood stove, a 1957 ford tractor to restore, an old singer HD sewing machine, and several older coleman lanterns and stoves to do.

Thanks! It'll take about 4-5 days to dry after the two coats and then I'll put it together and post a thread. I loves me some tinkering and I'm looking forward to Finsters wine press restoration!
