Quick question for everybody, how do you store your furs till next auction/season?
As this year comes to a close in just over a month, it seems that I will be spending more money for gas to include driving to the drop off than what I expect to get for my furs,
I've read people just leave them in the fur shed wrapped in NAFA bags. I'm not sure that would be a good idea for me as my shed gets bout 115 - 120. Has anybody ever tried vacuum sealing them. I know it seems like I would be using a lot of bags but in actuality that's how slow my season has been going so far.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Vacuum bags would get pretty pricey I think.

But having bugs get at your fur is sure no good.

Best is in a freezer.

Going to highjack this thread slightly. If I was going to keep fur till next year and freezer space is not a problem. Would I be better to leave them on the carcass?

Left outside a freezer watch out for mice. Don’t ask how I know that.

The last thing you want to do Is leave the fur on the carcass. You will end up with freezer burnt feet and faces.

Don't know where "middle of nowhere, nv" as I have seen a whole lot of that in this wonderful state of ours....

but you can send it to the Nevada trappers acc. and the fur manager will get it put in the sale for you.

You can get some big bags from ULine fairly cheap. Tape em off then use a shop vac to pull the air or regular vaccum. Toss in a hand warmers and close off. If you can store em in a 50* environment, most animals can keep for yeaes. Fatty animals will look stale quickly though.

The Fallon sale is the end of February. Plenty of time to get your fur put up and shipped to it.

If you are going to store fur over the summer, tightly packed in a freezer is the best way.
