been gettin stuff around to get at some callin myself,spurred by the same full moon daylight you speak of.unfortunately the moon will be hid for a few days and our snows hours are numbered.
have a yote hitting a bait out back i'm letting get comfortable.

This was particularly exciting for me since I have never done a lot of calling and had not ever shot anything before while calling. I could get hooked on this pretty easily. I was hoping the .17 WSM would not pass through but a fox is pretty skinny and since I hit it low there was not much resistance.
I'm just happy to be here! Today I'm as young as I'll ever be and and older than I've ever been before!

That is neat..When I was a kid I'd go out with bow or airgun when moon was bright. Never shot a fox but sure piled up the bunnies..

its all addicting to me but i'd have to say be glad you don't have a good grey fox population as that is about as exciting and addicting as it gets.

We DO have a good grey fox population and I'm surprised one did not come in first. I have seen one in the neighborhood recently and on many occasions...have even trapped them in my yard (along with reds). I would not have shot one since there seems to be no market on them at this time. I see where 160user got $20.00 for a red so that gave me some incentive.

Mac I was thinking yesterday about all the cold days and nights I spent goofing off having fun in a freezing white out blizzard and now and hour or two is all I can take.
I may not have gone where I intended to go, but I think I have ended up where I needed to be.

i looked around a little and found greys are bein sought for way more than i thought.for tanners but feet on and no shotgun blasts are pretty lucritive i thought.course i'm chasin skunks too so take it for what its worth.

Well, if you ever shoot one with a .17 WSM try to shoot it lengthwise or through the shoulders or somewhere that would not result in an exit hole. I spent all morning washing and sewing the dang thing. The entry hole was almost non existent but the exit left about a 6 inch by 4 inch tear in the hide with a bunch of meat blown off the ribs along with a quarter sized hole through the ribs. It came out OK but only after a lot of work. I thought the .17 WSM would be ideal for fox but now I would not hesitate to shoot a coyote through the rib cage with it if it was within a hundred yards or so.This fox was only about 35 yards away so maybe my .22 Mag would have been a better choice but I was hoping for a coyote since there was fresh tracks out there by some of my discarded bait. I will keep trying while we have the moonlight.
