In a round about way he did, imo hip. But corky is right lol, we turned this into a mental health thread. I think it's probably because when one thinks about AOC, you automatically think of a whackado. grin

So, your against people having due process when accused?

How about the red flag law?

No, don't start that with me lol, you can clearly see I said due process was a good thing. I will highlight it for you lol. The reason I say Reagan in a round about way had a effect on the whole Country (and this is as President not to be confused with him as Gov) is the Omnibus he signed in 81 shifted funding to the States as block grants. This made the mental health centers compete for funding with economic development, housing etc and the mental health centers would loose out to them. He may have not made the sausage per say, but he owned the butcher shop, imo.

I didn't start it, you drug that into it!

Thought you were all for states rights? You should be happy he sent it back to the states, with money to do as they wish.

Look some more, he might've pooped his pants when he was little.

I am a lover of both States Rights and Due Process. I loves me some Freedom. I do think though that Reagan pulled a Pelosi on that Omnibus. You know, sign it first then we'll read it lol. That Act was set up for a predetermined failure and succeeded as such. You are right though, in the end the States called the ball, the only ball they had to play with.

But it's getting up there pretty quick. Over a $100 at the Humane Society here, unless you'll take a very old animal or one with health issues, or you're an old geezer.

Has anyone been to a shelter lately and seen what they have to offer? Doesnt seem like you are going to get a nice young healthy dog to often from a shelter unless you want a pitbull, infact that is about all I see the shelters trying to get rid of, Pits and cats.

Catch , in 1981 the d's had control of The House and they held The Senate with a
super majority , so Reagan could have read every word twice over , he just couldn't do much about it .

What? Do you not know the history? It's the afl/cio who sued saying paintlickers and bed wetters have to be turned loose because they have "rights". They may not know what planet they're on but they got rights. Dumped them on families that couldn't care for them but okay we'll give them a crazy check to make up for it.

But I guess the simple short answer is that it's Trump's fault (plug in the R that fits).

If you want to adopt go to the POUND not a shelter.
To clarify , the pound is where the town/city takes strays. This is a local government funded building with a dog catcher/ACO who works there taking care of the animals.
A shelter is different. This is run by rescue groups and volunteers.
The lines can be blurred sometimes.

Here is the difference , a pound will allow you to adopt out fairly easily and at low cost. Sometimes as little as $5-$10. There is little requirements to be allowed to adopt. Kinda like " can you care for the animal ? " " do you have a place to keep the animal ? " " Do you know how to take care of the animal? " please sign here and give us our small fee.

Now a shelter is way , way different. These are run by well meaning folks that get twisted by animal rights groups. They will make you fill out a multi page application with evasive questions and requirements. There are many things that they use to deny you an adoption. Already have 1-2 dogs ? Denied. Don't have the perfect home for the animal ? Denied. If you just look wrong , denied. Just utter the term 'declawed' when looking for a cat , denied. Even admit you once owned a declawed cat , denied. Problem with most shelter employees is they think everyone is an animal abuser and trust hardly anybody. Plus a lot of shelters will make you sign a statement that they are allowed to show up at your home any time to inspect and if need be remove the animal on the merest infraction. Moving out of the area after owning the animal for years , you are required to surrender it back. They can't monitor it anymore. Sad to think that after you have given it a loving home for years and bonded with it , it now goes back into a cage at the shelter. How is that good for an animal? It's not. It's good for the wacked people who run some of these places. Plus , shelters get real high fees , $100 or more. In my area it is closer to $200+ Want a puppy or kitten ? $300. Cat rescue groups are known for finding feral cat colonies and only capturing the kittens. They are worth money , the older adult cats , no.

If you have anything to donate , give it to the pound. Not the shelter. The pound/ACO scratches for every dollar they have at their disposal. This is usually one of the first things that takes a hit come budget time for towns. ACO's work very hard and get very little respect.

How do you adopt an animal? You can take ownership. Either through purchase or a gift, but adoption is what you do with an orphaned human child. When you adopt a child you agree to be that childs parents no matter what problems may pop up. Saying adoption where an animal is concerned is just more animal rights tripe.

For 300 dollars you can get a well bred registered puppy of hunting stock. A kennel will SELL it to you. It becomes your PROPERTY.
