My wife's nephew was bring his son home from his 12th birthday party in Rochester, hit ice and rolled his truck several times. Dericks younger brother was following behind. Both had belts on, young boy got stiches and fractured hand. Derick got thrown from the truck, broke seven ribs, slight punctures to lungs, broken sternum, two or three mid to low back vertibre, had 3 disks fused, tubes in chest and back, in a lot of pain. Hope he recovers quickly. He can move legs, that's good

Could of been worse for being thrown from the vehicle. Glad they still with us.
Was born in a Big City Will die in the Country OK with that!

That happened to me in an 05 Tundra. Sudden ice, slid onto a windrow of ice on the shoulder. Did a full gainer, landed on the wheels. I got out, saw a spot that wasn't dented. Kicked it to finish the job.

Glad to hear all survived , best luck on recovery on injuries.
To others , yes , it is very possible to be thrown from a crash even with seat belt on. This is why professional racers use things like a 5 point safety harness. Slipping out of a normal seat belt is more common than you would think in a roll over. I've seen this as a firefighter who has seen some nasty MVA's ( Motor Vehicle Accidents) have been to fatal ones too. I've also seen motorcycle accidents where the helmet came clear off the riders head.
Best wishes to those affected , hope for speedy recovery.

It is better to die on your feet than to live on your knees.
