I've never used the original slip cam heads, but I have used hypodermics. There isn't a lot of material at the base of the ferrule. I hit a doe in the shoulder/leg area and the head broke off flush at the shaft. You can see with the large slot cut for the blades it doesn't leave much for strength.

I know. Don't shoot them in the shoulder. At the end of the day I lost confidence in their durability and no longer use them. Not really what you were looking for I'm sure but that's my experience.

Did you kill the deer? If so it worked. Not many mechanical heads that have any reuse after going thru a shoulder....

I like the slip cams. I've killed 3 deer with the same head but put new blades on it.

With a cross bow make sure you something that can stand up to the FPS a crossbow bolts travel. Some broadhead manufactures make broadheads specifically for crossbows.

I guess I don't have enough experience with Rage broadheads. I have run a small archery business in this area and I have not had a lot of good feed back from customers that have tried the Rage broadheads. I am sure the newer styles are built better then the older ones. A mechanical head should fly better then a fixed blade. Tough broadheads is one of my concerns when selling broadheads. I want heads that will stand up to a bone contact hit. JMO

I've used the rage slipcam crossbow for years and have taken some big bodied Midwestern bucks with them and so far been very satisfied

I’ve used several designs from Rage. Hypodermic is the only one I’ll still use. Having said that, I’ve been using the Chinadermics and have had zero issues. They do just as well and kill just the same. No regrets. I'm sure some will complain the I’m buying cheap rip-offs but I’ll spend my money as I see fit. Until I have an issue with one, I’ll continue using them.

Should mention they’re being shot from a x-bow that’s only used a couple times a year on an urban hunt. Otherwise I use Grim Reapers in my compound and Zwickey Eskimos in my recurve.

I keep desperately hoping that one day someone will call me "Sir" without adding "please calm down" or "you're causing a scene."

Ive Killed allot of deer with the regular Rage two blade x-bow heads and have never had any problems with them , they leave an awesome blood trail! Just hit em where your suppose to and the head will work just fine. Never tried the Hypodermics . 30.00 bucks is a good price.

I started using the Hypodermics 3 years ago.. 3 deer (8point, 10point, 10point), double lung all never went more than 50 yards. I hit one threw the lungs and came out its shoulder on the opposite side. But I shoot a heavy bolt which i would recommend encase you do hit the shoulder. I use PileDriver 20" Bolts and the 100g Rage Hypodermics. with this combo you will get a lot of kinetic energy compared to shooting the lighter bolts. However, longer shots are out of the question at least with my xbow which is fine for me i dont like to shoot over 25 yards anyway...
