Yes , this does happen , mostly in roll-over or side impacts. Your body is under huge G forces. You slip out from the top or bottom. I had a 86yo turn left in front of me , I had a green light he did not. I hit him at 40mph. My car hit so hard I lifted the rear wheels off the ground and popped a rear tire. I slid down and put my right knee through the dash. Airbags deployed but because I had the seat belt on , it only just touched me in the chest. Car was totaled , a Nissan Sentra. I walked away from the accident ( limping) . When my friends saw the car they could not believe I walked away.

And yes , everything in the car becomes a projectile. Including anyone ( even children in back seat ) will go flying at great speed and can kill you.

But you weren't ejected...because you were wearing your belt.

No , this was a frontal impact. Very different. However , it kept me from serious injury. Kinda failed a bit because I put my knee through the dash , made a hole. If I was not buckled in odds are the airbag would have kept me from going through the windshield.

Safety equipment can only do so much , look at Dale Earnhardt.

Violent rollovers are the worst.

I went to an accident scene once , young girl. High , high rate of speed for the road in question. She was driving an SUV. Slammed into a tree. Just about cut the vehicle in half front to back. She was found a few feet away still strapped into the drivers seat. It had come free from the floorboards. She was DOA. Very sad.

It's my wife's nephew, I never talk to him if I can avoid it, but he could use prayers.
Curt the one that got hit by semi, he was son's, ex girlfriend's husband, only reason I knew him, my wife kept in contact with her for 25 years, he needed prayers more than Derick, Curt is doing pretty good now

Iam no paramedic.....but I do fix crashed cars for the last 43 years.....and I know ,that people get blown out of their boots,sneakers....upon impact. You alway find boots laced up inside the vehicles.....how strange is that.

I got called out one night with my FD to do an emergency lighting on the interstate. Seems a girl intentionally walked in front of a semi. She was wearing 8" high boots , lace up type , tight to the flesh. They were sitting right on the road where she got hit. Her body was 50 feet away in the grass. I feel bad for the truck driver that had to see/live with that. I've heard of people getting blown right out of work boots when getting electrocuted.
