I dry the oil stones with the oil inside, then I put them in the freezer until I have enough to fill a gallon jar.I fill the gallon jar with the dry stones then fill the jar with mineral oil. Then age this for 1 year in a root cellar or cold room in the basement. Then I drain off the mineral oil for use in lure,or alone, and refill the jar with new oil(same stones). You can do this several times, then make a new batch. You can use the spent stones for a lure/bait. After a year the mineral oil will be brown and have a powerful oil stone oil smell. You can see a bit of the brown mineral oil in the bottom of the jar.

I use some in several lures and baits for multiple species.I use it strait for some applications also. And only a small amount for beaver lure either strait or with castor and other goodies. Its a key ingredient in a heck of a bear lure.

I freeze my oil sacs fresh and at the end of the season I squeeze out the oil and sell that by the quart. I also am still able to use or sell the empty sacs as there is still residual oil there.
My fear of moving stairs is escalating!

here is some i salted like he did in the video. I pulled a couple out and laid them on top so you could see them. you can also see how much oil the salt absorbs. i grind the salted aged sacs up in bait. ( i dont wash them though like he does) i also use that salt. it is very hard. in order to get it granular again i put in a coffee can and bust it up good, a little at a time with a hammer handle. i like to make fake beaver slides. put a fresh peeled stick up the bank about 3 feet and sprinkle a little of that salt on the slide

I gave you a good hint there, now think fishy and sweet. Now go out there hunting and experiment a little and come up with something of your own. The best part is working out a lure that works for you.It gets you out in the bush.
