My wife is dealing with shingles and it's no joke. I've had the chicken pox when I was 21( bad case). So, I'm likely to get them.
My question is? Who has had the vaccine for shingles and did you have any side effects. Also, what do you believe the side effects, if any will occur down the road? I don't care to pump drugs in my body. I take as little of anything when sick or in pain. Thanks, Sarge

shingles wont kill you. mighty painful for a few days though. doc told me im not likely to get them again but a few people have repeat episodes

I had the first one in November when I got my flu shot. I need to go back for the 2nd injection before the end of March. The nurse told me not to get the injection in my “dominant “ arm because it is usually sore for a few days, she was right. The next day it felt like I banged it on the corner of a kitchen cabinet. But no side effects for me. I’m 58 and had chicken pox when I was about 8. Get the shot, I’ve seen a few guys with shingles and it wasn’t pretty.

Got shingles in my eye last year. Also covered my face from my cheek to the top of my head. Saw the eye doctor every other day for a week and a half. There was a risk of loosing my eyesight but it ended well. I missed 2 weeks of work and spent three of those days sitting in the same lazy-boy chair barely able to get up to go to the bathroom. Shingles is no joke. I'm 50 next year and will qualify for the vaccine. I'm getting it for sure. Can't help with side effects since I haven't had it yet but I'll take whatever the side effects are over getting the real thing again.

Never had Chicken Pox but got the Shingles in the mid 90’s...not good. Missed about 3 weeks of work. Hope I never get them again!!

I took the first shot in December. I go back in February for the second shot. No side effects at all. No soreness or anything else.

I got the old version of the shot when the DR suggested it when I turned 60. Zero side effects. That was the only vaccine available then. The new stuff is supposed to be better.

I have seen the suffering caused by Shingles and do not wish it on anyone. It was a no brainer for me to get the shot.

SGT C those virus are still in your system and when they erupt to break out on your skin it hurts.
3 weeks without a Tshirt on because of the blisters etc...sleeping on a air bed. no sleep etc it's a no brainer just like what Quiet-B-deadly said

They call it the suicide disease for good reason some folks not a bad deal others well read up on it. Worst pain in the world for me and I have had pain from surgery and other things shingles are bad. Get it on the head and it can cause blindness. You can get them again I know, you can get them after the vaccination. Just make sure you get the new vaccine and my arm was sore for two days the first shot it seemed like I had no energy second one no big deal other than sore arm. Folks that think vaccines are BS and a govt. project need to get the shingles they would feel otherwise. There is an anti viral med you can get that reduces the symptoms if you take them within 48 hours other than that pain meds and pain. If it was me I would get the vaccination tommorrow!

New shot makes your arm sore for a few days, worse than a flu shot but infinitely preferable to shingles. Get the vaccine.

I had shingles this past June. I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. I have quite a bit of scaring on my leg from it and dead nerves. Unfortunately, I can't get the vaccine shots right now but my brother got his. He had a low grade fever and under the weather for a couple of days but other than that, fine. I'm not a big fan of shots for everything but I'll tell anyone who will listen to get the shingles shots. Good luck

I have had the shots with zero side affects. My sister had shingles nearly three years ago, and still suffers from nerve damage in her scalp, forehead and eye. I have known several people that had shingles threatening their eyesight.

I had no side effects other than my arm being really sore with the second one.

I just had my second shot 6 days ago. Zero side effects.

Felt a little fluish for about 24 hours after both shots

My mother said having the shingles was like giving birth for 3 solid weeks. Horrible for her.

I have took the new shots that are out. The first one was rough it made me feel bad and my arm was sore for 2 days. Took the second shot about 6 months later would not wish that side effect on anyone, it was like I had the flu for about a week. My wife also took the shots about 6 months after me and it done her the same way.

I had the first one about three weeks ago. No soreness but I felt tired for a couple days. Of course that is nothing new!!

I'm due for my second shot. A little soreness with shot number 1.
