Mink, weasel, or barn rats. Most owl kills I have seen the owl take the head off and a hawk as well as on owl will usually carry it off.

I caught a hawk red handed so to speak, that killed one of our chickens, drug it into a shed under my chicken plucker, and then picked the head and neck clean. I don't know if it's common or not, but I know they can do it.

Hawks will pluck most of the feather before eating and move to a safe place to eat. I will go with a mink.

I'll go with rats and/or other chickens. Mustelids will go for the brains and organs first in my experience.
