I agree it is cheating and Cora is going to get a worse punishment than the Astros coach and GM got. However, if we look at that as cheating because they used a camera to steal signs shouldn't Game cameras in the woods for hunting be considered cheating? Aren't they just giving away signs and tells?

It's part of the game when you involve players on the field outsiders can't be involved. But changing the game no Collision a home and 2nd to break up the double play. If the pitcher pitches inside or God forbid hit someone he's out the need to quit changing the game.

Back in the 1980's I think it was , there was a TV Preacher that wore what looked like a hearing aid. Turns out it was a microphone that was hooked up to someone in the control booth. The " Preacher", would call on someone that the person in the booth said to talk to. He would call them up on stage, and the person in the control booth would tell the Preacher all the person's problems right through the ear piece. That Preacher made a mint off of that !!

It is not that complicated. The Astros broke the rules. They knew the rules. They got caught and now are getting punished. Every game has rules.

Charlie Hustle just didn't make A bet. He made bets for at least 3 years with bookies with ties to organized crime. One year he was a player/manger who could affect the outcome of the games he bet on or didn't bet on. Major League Baseball's rule about not betting was on a wall in every dugout. He has no one to blame but himself.

If you aren't cheating you aren't trying.

When I was a teen, I went to a lot of minor league baseball games. We kept play by play score in the program, and we watched coaches to try to steal signs. Sometimes we did, and we would shout to players on the field if we knew a runner was going to attempt a steal or a batter was going to bunt.

Was that cheating? I am sure players in the dugouts are watching the opposing coaches to do the same thing.

We can all think as we wish to. Some saying all is fair, some not and some feel that even if you get caught why is it a big deal. To me the owners of the Astros doing what they felt was appropriate for them to do speaks quite loudly. There are some other teams that will be investigated as well. Rose gets banned from baseball for life because he gambled and bet on baseball, plus some other serious behavioral issues and now a whole team cheats for years and it is a couple draft choices for a few years and 5 million. What is five million to people with billions? Also the Astros have not drafted many as of late they have gone out with free agency and bought talent as some other teams do. When dealing with huge money, fines are just a cost of doing business for people and firms in those elite classes.

As stated earlier the Red Sox have fired their manager and they too are being investigated. The way the messages were being transferred and decoded by the teams and the signals used indicates to me that every member on these teams was aware and utilized the info, even the bat boy may have been involved and also the grounds people who oversee the grounds. I am even more elated now that the Nationals won the last series. I feel a bit for Verlander as I always respected his ability and he got bought into this system but then he was throwing and not batting.

I played legion baseball. If you got on second base, you could see the catcher's sign to the pitcher on the opposing team. We would tell our batter at the plate if it was going to be a curveball or a fast ball by calling him by his name. For instance, if the sign was fast ball, we would call him by his first name, "Get a hit, Jim!" A curve ball last name, "Get a hit, Smitty!"

We didn't consider it cheating at the time. Of course, it only worked if you had a man on second base.

Yes when I played we watched for that all the time. One of the advantages of having a lead off batter that could get on base and steal if needed, more opportunities. What is taking place now is on a whole different level. The whole idea of beating on a trash can shows the level of trying to cover this up. Pitchers don't bat in the AL and after a whole season of thousands of games the AL batting average is .01 to .02 higher than the NL. Both teams caught so far are AL teams, maybe they need an edge?
