I have seen a fair number of deer stuck in fences by a leg, where they jumped over and put a foot though the mesh twice and hung themselves. They were always dead and decayed.
Tonight, we were driving home from shopping and I saw a deer standing by the left side of the road. I slowed down to a slow crawl as we approached and the deer just kept standing there, only a few feet from the road, with its face pushed into a fence. I realized it was a buck with it's antlers stuck through. It moved its head very slightly as we passed. I think it was worn out.
As soon as I passed it, I thought about backing up to take a picture, but figured I would panic it.
I had Diane call the sherriffs department.
Have any of you seen a buck do that?
Keith

I haven't personally. I know several who have. Recently there was a big buck with Christmas lights tangled in its antlers. My kids uncle and his buddies recused 2 bull elks that were fighting when they got tangled in the barbwire fence. In my parents old neighborhood, our neighbors 2 houses down kept having their Christmas lights pulled down, every single night. One of the local police officers parked down the road a ways and watched and realized a herd of deer were coming from the woods across the street and getting tangled in the lights while eating their bushes and trees. They tried spraying a bunch of smelly products, hanging soap, and putting out hair clippings, but nothing helped. They ended up taking their lights down a few days later. Keith

I killed a nice 8 point buck that was caught In a fence. Was heading down the road when I came on this traffic jam. As I pulled up I could see what every one was gawking at. I figured there was no way you could get that deer out of the fence without getting hurt. So I did the deed most of the gawkers were k with It but I did get some nasty remarks. It was during bow season.

I actually saw where 2 dogs had jumped a fence and both were hind leg caught. One was already dead but I got the other one free but I'm not sure If It made It or not.
I found a deer where It had jumped a downed tree and landed In a in a clump of trees and got wedged there. It was about 4' feet off the ground. There was nothing but hide and bones.

I saw two dogs stuck together once. Does that count? LOL Nice job and nice shooting! I hope they didn't waste the dead one
