I drew the short straw this year and got myself elected as president of one of my local bee clubs. I've spent the last month promoting and preparing for a beginners short course this Saturday. As of today we have 33 registered to attend. Spent today prepping the room for tomorrow's regular meeting and Saturday's class. I've done pulled something in my back and will be on my feet all of Saturday.
To boot tomorrow's meeting may be eventful as my first official act is to make a motion to raise our dues.

How do you think they will take the news that they owe more money? Atleast 33 new bee keepers will be fun.

Those that are active in promoting the club have said it needs done. No idea the majority who just attend meetings.

Warrior, why don't you do your presentation as a webinar, that way we can be a part of it...

It may get there someday but not yet. Next project is to get the seven south metro clubs together to see if we could pull off a regional event. We already work together on many other things.

If you can justify the increase there should be not problem. Take care of the back.

From my experience in doing seminars or sessions on topics with mostly new or beginners they are the most fun of all. Most come very hungry to learn and want to learn as much as they can. I hope your back does not limit your ability to engage and interact they way many probably hope you will be able to do As to dues increases? Again if these are beginners for the most part and are enthusiastic you will probably get less crap then with a a bunch of longer term members who are looking more for reasons to question then to learn.

You'll do OK. Small bites --chew thoroughly. Ask for help. A lot of folks want to help but not lead.
