My boy has an otter tag, and I'm fairly new to water trapping. We put out a couple sets I'm pretty confident in on Monday night. Well my youngest(7) just got his own waders for his birthday and wanted to do some exploring, So the 3 of us walked the stream, checked out sign, some toilets, which there is a lot of. My question is did we scare them off for awhile? Is it equivelent to spending too much time around a coyote set? Regardless we had a ton of fun. I really keep a keep a close eye on them as I know the water can be a dangerous place.

I wouldn't worry.

I've only trapped 2, but learned that patience is key. They travel big routes.

So cool that they can do that and that you could find waders their sizes. If the otter were not in the immediate area at the time you were there there should be no worries.

Well everyone was right when they said they'd be back around shortly. Set Monday night, caught one Thursday. Pretty excited boys! MB750 on set at a toilet. 35.5" nose to tail.

Just great to see the kids involved- when we move from a tag draw to a quota system next year- you can do it again!
