He could also have been an agnostic. I didn't see any disbelief in his writing that showed a preference either way. I would say being stuck in neutral is better than reverse.
This obit is ripe with disbelief. He specifies what is not going to happen = belief in that outcome. If he's right, we're wrong. If he's wrong, his belief will earn him a spot on the evil team and it doesn't end well for that team. Agnostics fool themselves if they think they hold no opinion. There is no such thing. How did we get here? What is my purpose? How does all this work? Big picture stuff above all of our pay-grades. We all decide what we believe on those topics. There either "is" or "isn't" and everyone gets to decide, unless to young to be able or mentally incapable. It's been that way since the first chapter of the book that is the best-seller all of time. Mark do you believe that Rev 3:15-16 is referring to agnostics? If so, don't sound good.....

It's truthfully sad that he thought that way! All he had to do was Believe!! not just believe he had to accept Jesus as his savior. he clearly did not so he is enjoying the heat.

I'm not going to make any judgments about where he is or isn't at the present time. However, I am pretty sure he did not find eternal life.

Maybe the guy is not roasting for eternity.
He might have had a death-bed conversion.
Or maybe God is more forgiving and loving than Christians give Him credit for being.

Former Professor Dies At Age 72
Yup, it is true. If you are reading this, I am dead. I am not up in the clouds looking down at you playing a golden harp. I am not meeting with friends who died before me.
I've not gone home to anyone's arms. I am dead. I am also not burning in a lake of fire or being tortured for the rest of eternity. I am just dead. And someday, you'll be dead too. It's just the nature of life.
I was born on April 6, 1947 in Pittsburgh, Pa. I died on January 12, 2020. I was 72 years old.
I was fortunate to wear many hats while I was alive. A partial list includes Boy Scout (Eagle Scout), soldier (Vietnam), professor (University of Missouri, Associate Professor of Biomedical Sciences), scientist (thirty-five-plus peer-reviewed publications), vineyard owner and winemaker, lifelong dog owner (too numerous to list), self-taught gourmet in the kitchen. (A note here, anybody that can do biochemistry can cook. One only needs apply one's self).
As you can imagine, there will be no fancy funeral or anything close to that. So there is nowhere to send flowers. However, should you feel the need to do something in my name, I do have a few favorite charities/nonprofits that I have supported over the years. They include: The ASPCA, Planned Parenthood, The Southern Poverty Law Center, and The American Civil Liberties Union. Meh...
.is all it's worth
I BELIEVE IN MY GOD, MY COUNTRY AND IN MYSELF.
