David Cecil Wilson Obituary
SIDNEY -- On Monday, June 20, 2011, at the age of 52, the Rev. David Cecil Wilson decided that he was sick and tired of being sick and tired of having to deal with the effects of cancer, so he moved to his eternal home in Heaven, where he is once again completely whole. He was born in Augusta on July 5, 1958, to Frank C. And Frances (Gelo) Wilson.
The summer of 1976 was a busy time for David. He graduated form Hall-Dale High School in June, turned 18 in July and started working in August at Central Maine Power Co., where he continued to work until his passing.
On May 19, 1979, David married Beth French. They made their home and raised their family in Hallowell until 2003, when they moved into the home they had built in Sidney.
David was very well-known and respected in the world of trapping. He was the vice-president of the Maine Trapper's Association and the president of the Capitol Area Trapper's Chapter.
He was also founder and president of Track and Trap Trapping Supplies, which catered to the sport David loved. Maine is the only state left where a bear can be trapped, so David met with a manufacturing friend in New York and had the "Wilson Bear Snare" designed and produced. He was very proud of the fact that he had a snare with his name on it. The snares have sold throughout the United States and as far away as Canada and Sweden.
David's most important "job" was that of an ordained minister. He attended The Old Time Pentecostal Blood Bought Church on Kennedy Memorial Drive in Oakland. Every service was like a family reunion because of the number of family members who attend Blood Bought, starting with the Pastor and his wife. The congregation will miss David very much.
David was extremely excited about a new grandbaby being born in December. He saved the ultrasound picture as the screen saver on his cellphone and would show it to everyone saying, "You want to see the most beautiful sight in the world?" This question always accompanied a big smile. David loved all of his grandchildren and was affectionately known as "Gramps."
A special thank you to Kathie Roy and Tina Libby of Healthreach for taking such good care of David.
He was predeceased by his father, Frank C. Wilson, in 2008.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Beth A. Wilson, of Sidney; son Shaine David Wilson of South Gardiner; daughter Andrea Maree Wilson Dwelle and husband Christopher and their unborn child, of Augusta; his mother, Frances G. Wilson, of Randolph; his sister, Diane Trueworthy, and husband David of Lewiston; his grandchildren, Lucas, Brandon, Isaac, Olivia and Devin; his three nephews and their families, Ian, Abram and Justin; his in-laws, Ivan and Vicki French, and Sandra and Frank Bumpus; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
