Going there on a cruise and would like to know if there is any shore or pier fishing to take the grand kids. Thanks Dave

No there's not any fishing around there. You'd have to take a charter from another area of the Bahamas. We tried several different ways to fish when we were there for our daughter's Make A Wish cruise. Locals and Disney said there's no fishing in Nassau. There's plenty of rentals like jet skis. Locals will walk the beach selling Cuban and Dominican cigars, offering rentals. There's areas to swim with dolphins and stingrays snorkel. There's a part somewhere in the Bahamas where the wild boars swim in the ocean.

What cruise line? You're going to have a blast either way. Don't forget to budget for the cruise line tips. I'd take a cruise again in a heartbeat.

I have been there twice and never fished. I snorkeled. I saw fish every where I went. On the smooth sand slow slopping bottom was where I saw the least. If you got around structure there were fish. I saw a guy fishing off a pier on the channel that runs between Nassau and Paradise Island with a hand line and he was catching fish. The cruse ships come in right there from what I saw. Head toward the bridge that connects the two islands. You can see fish walking if you walk along the edge. The guy I saw fishing was a local and he was on Paradise Island. A bridge connects the two. I stayed on Paradise and never spent much time on Nassau.

I just looked it up and there are tons of charters. No fishing in Nassau?! Just got back from a cruise (that i didn't want to be on), but made the best of it and fished at each port. Grand cayman, Costa Maya, and Cozumel. Honestly, booking outside of the cruise umbrella was best and cheaper. Im a fly fisherman so we mostly bonefished, but if you want the kids to have fun book an inshore charter. Im sure dolphin, mackerel, wahoo, or and number of other fished can be trolled up or bottom fish for grouper, bass, and such.

Be back on the boat and out of Nassau before dark. And if you are going with a group, stay together. Don't stray too far from the port. Nassau is a hole and went straight downhill after the British stopped ruling there

Thank you , I thought it would be nice if they had fishing piers like they do in Florida where you pay by the day to fish. Going on Carnival Cruise

Just an FYI. Get an order of Deep Fried Conk at Senior Frogs. You will dock at the straw market. Can't miss it. Best shellfish the wife and I ever ate.
