Has he calmed down towards you?
Being protective of your son? I taught him to bark at aggression even in play so in answer to that he is perfect. I think you took it more serious than needed 330,its also a tool border collies use in herding. Thanks for your concern....out here where we live I expect my dogs to act that way,and I encourage it.

my neighbor has 2 dogs that will pick up black walnuts , they will bring you a ball if you are out standing in the drive way talking and they love playing fetch.
both some sort of blue healer Aussie Shepard mix.
during walnut drop he goes over and picks one up then goes and sits in his lawn chair with a 5 gallon pail he throws the first one near the dropped wall nuts , the dog brings it back , then he pretends to throw it and the dog runs out an picks up a dropped walnut and brings it back , again he pretends to throw it but after the dog takes off he throws it in the bucket , he actually throws one about every 4-5 times the dog likes fetch it works for a while he gets a bunch of walnuts picked up sitting in his chair.
America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

yup this pup too with my black walnuts. If I take him out with no ball he grabs walnuts and brings me. This pup has been with me a month and he is trained very well. Most of it in 3 days....constant balls of energy these border collies. I give him constructive things to do because they are constant motion. Trained 3 blue heelers in 2 days for girlfriends dad.....sit,lay down, stay, shake hands ...easy to train. One bad point with heelers, they usually dont give a bark warning...many just bite
