this is a piece of maple form a root rot tree I took down early last spring

the areas I circled I can crumble away with just my thumb. but it is dry now , when I cut this it would have been more like a sponge when pressed with a finger

I just tossed this one on a small pile of embers I dug out of the ash and it was on fire in about 2 minutes

since your just helping people out dry is all that really matters

widow makers , the limbs that fall and crack your skull open if you own a hard hat wear it , Mine saved me at minimum a bunch of stitches and a concussion the limb was large enough it knocked me to the ground and pined me down , it was the tree behind me not even the one I was cutting.

fished with a guy once who when he was 8 years old was sent out to fetch his dad for lunch , found him next to the tree he had been cutting head busted the top came out and hit him

if I have a very questionable tree I will have the skid steer hold the bucket over me , once you get the saw started our eyes need to be looking at the top more than the saw you keep glancing down to the saw to see where you are then back up to the top , it will tell you what is happening

Wear protective gear when felling and be careful driving felling wedges........the pounding can break limbs free.

It's truly amazing how much moisture is retained in a standing dead tree! I've cut Oaks that have been dead for several years, that when cut down and bucked to length, the cut surface is unchecked, till it has had a chance to set a couple of weeks, and then look at all the checks it has.

Cut, split and delivered. Maybe it’ll keep them warm a couple days.
