Florida seems to be the poster child for invasive species. Iguanas , big snakes , cane toads , africanized bees ,exotic venomous snakes. Not to mention many invasive plants too.
Miami/Dade fire department has it's own venomous response unit. World famous , best resource for antivenom. They get requests from all over the country for antivenom serum. You would think that you would be safe from being bit from a black mamba or gaboon viper in this country , nope. Collectors ( mostly illegally) get them and bring them here. A good hurricane and where they are kept becomes compromised and they are loose.

I gotta laugh , a few years ago the state of Florida had delisted manatees from being endangered . Their numbers had recovered nicely and populations were rebounding. One thing they had noticed was how manatees spent time during the winter months in the outflow of nuclear power plants because the water released was warm.
The 'Save the manatee ' club had a fit. They said they were going to sue the state and get them put back on the endangered list. The reason was the flow of donations slowed right down from being delisted. I say , ok , you saved the manatees , pat yourself on the back , have a big party and celebrate it. Then go home.
No , it was all about the money , not the manatees.

while all those iguanas are slow and lethargic it would be the perfect time for a culling. Green Iguanas are an invasive species that do not belong in FL and cause considerable damage.
get the pitch fork and machete , it's Green Iguana killing time.
America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

A good hurricane and where they are kept becomes compromised and they are loose. It sure seems that way. I read recently where much of the warm-blooded creatures in the everglades have all but disappeared. They attribute a good share of this to an overwhelming, growing population of pythons.
The difference between animals and humans is that animals would never let the dumbest ones lead the pack.

Looks like a case of "a reptile dysfunction."
