You mean you wouldnt trust that to hold a 2-3 ton vehicle over your head. Fortunately there are still factory done welds on the plate in other locations. But it is being monitored closely.

Vehicle lift ? Structural ?
Let your boss use that lift.

Yeesh........ eek

Ever seen a car come off a hoist ? I have. It's not pretty. And no , it was not on a car or hoist I was using.

And I thought my welds weren’t too pretty. Maybe my welding skills aren’t so bad after all.

Well It looks like the slag wasn't removed before painting. But If that's not the case then there Is a problem.

No slag, all weld. Guarantee the metal wasnt cleaned up enough. What happend was rust formed under the top plate and spread the steel enough to break the factory weld. So with the rust and all the oils that have saturated that steel over the past 15 years along with what ever harbor freight rod was laying around. Then add someone with no welding ability at all and this is what you get. Even worse than the weld is the fact he thinks its all good.

I cant weld any better, but the difference is I know to call someone who can. Have a buddy thats a welder and he was pretty much at a loss for words. He said you cant get much easier than that to weld.

Wow.

I can do better with my 110 buzzbox with my rods that aren't kept in a way most welders would cringe at.

I wouldn't stand near that lift. Tell him to just paint it 30 more times maybe the paint will hold it better.

That's scary! Look's like what my dad used to do with 6013! He was self taught!

I think you have pigeons in the workshop rafters that are crapping on your car lift. Instead of painting over the poop, clean it off before painting.
