On one of the properties I trap, it is along the river and heavily wooded. On the corner of the drive thru there is a very small pocket clearing. And I had a couple dirt hole sets there. I noticed one was coming thru a narrow trail every so often and got close a few times. Even had on camera. Maybe every 5 days or so. Snares were out of option cause it's loaded with deer. So I made a walk thru set in between the 2 sets with some scat I collected from different property and a dobbins gland lure. And finally got him by a back foot that barely grabbed a few toes with a Bridger 3. I was very surprised cause we just had a snow and was freezing. But makes me wonder how great they smell. Lure and scat were under snow. And figured trap Would be not operational. Or at least slow to connect. Or maybe got super lucky and it just happened to walk thru not even knowing.

Well??? What was it? Cat? Coyote?
Whatever it was...congrats! Sounds like a well thought out plan!

Great job man! Those things make me pull my hair out. I run cameras too...can get a pic of one walking between two sets and not even turn his head to look at either. Then catch that same coyote a few days later and he comes straight to the set like he knew it was there the entire time. They keep this newbie humble for sure!!

Ya. I'm pretty new to leg holds and coyotes. But I'm picking up on it. Alot of fun, that's for sure
