I believe that in the Detroit River and Lake St Clair the fish must be over 44" to keep.
I see multiple photos of fish over 50" through the season.on Facebook daily.

I don't know what the slot is on the Michigan side

Just happy to be here.

I don't think that a few folks keeping a trophy class, mature fish is going to impact that fishery too much. Almost nobody here keeps the fish as they are considered sub standard table fare and most folks out for a fish dinner are loading the boat with walleye and perch. It is probably worth mentioning that if you wanted to come to the Windsor area to do some fishing you could potentially ramp your boat in Lake St Clair in the morning of day 1 for a trophy musky experience. Day 2, drive 15 minutes from wherever you're staying to ramp your boat in the Detroit River's world class walleye area at LaSalle and boat a limit of walleye. If the bite is not on at LaSalle/Amherstburg, you can drive another 25 minutes to Leamington and jump into Lake Erie's Western Basin for Walleye, Steelhead and Salmon.

Most folks don't realize what a gem we have here for the avid fisherman. The fact is that so many tourists are focused on the Winery tours and not on the fishing opportunities. There is a silver bass run here in the late Spring that would absolutely blow people's minds in terms of the sheer quantity of fish you could land using a 2 hook spreader with a 3" twistertail grub on each side... literally hundreds of fish per angler in an afternoon.

The walleye fishery on the river is also a thing to behold. I have not fished it for many years (lost interest) but when the run is hot most folks boat a 6 fish limit in less than an hour

There is also the very real chance for multiple smallmouth bass over 4 lbs in a days fishing on Erie and a fairly unknown channel cat fishery which is great from Lake Erie right on up to the St Clair River near Port Huron

I used to fish a lot LOL, but now it seems the only time I wet a line is to catch some carp for raccoon bait.

This is not an endorsement as I don't know these folks, but these guys are fairly popular around where I used to live and it should give you an idea of the lures and gear in use to take numbers of good size fish on a daily basis on LSC.

With muskie the bones are big enough where you can fillet them out.
