Anyone ever home tan squirrel pelts? I picked up a black squirrel today & was thinking it might make a nice tan. Also, I'm thinking a red squirrel would make a nice tan.

I tan lots of red squirrels(tamiascurius hudsonicus). Not sure what species you are referring to,there is a red version of the fox squirrel which unlike the red squirrel is not a furbearer. The red squirrel is easy to tan and when prime is a nice fur with good leather.

For how the pic of the furs Boco you did a great job on them, I know it takes alot of work to get them that way I do some home tan myself and mainly use the alum and salt way and then use the neasfoot oil to soft them up with the work put into them.
