Any other carpenters or tradesmen get stuck watching this HGTV crap with the wife...do you guys notice too, the hosts of these shows are played to be professionals but dont have a clue how to do pretty much anything? Its funny every time, you can tell they just jump in front of the camera every once in awhile and pretend they've ever done it before. My favorite is watching them pretend to hang drywall. With a regular phillips bit and bury the screw half way through the panel. I'm just jealous I dont make their money!

My favorite is when the guests have to pick a house. They get a house with a roof that leaks like a sieve and they stick all their money remodeling the main floor and making it an “open floor concept”. Roof still leaks. Another thing I can’t comprehend, they gut the wiring in the house because it Knob and tube.... I’m a lineman not an electrician but a squeezed connection seems more solid than a wire nut.

My wife has them on ALL the time. Some are OK but I agree about a lot of the pretty faces pretending to actually know and do something. I return the favor with hunting shows.

I humor my wife occasionally and watch a show where people are shown 3 homes and they buy one of them. I can't imagine they actually buy one of the three. I don't mind shows like Buying the Rockies or Buying Alaska. But, shows like Beachfront Bargain Hunters or Caribbean Life, very boring!

He tries to make the world believe he is the only "contractor" that has ever done anything right in the history of the world. Every other contractor is an incompetent idiot. They have to make everything so dramatic...he'll go to look at a faucet drip and end up gutting the whole kitchen because none of it was done to his TV standards, with his TV budget. And then it's all hugs and kisses and praise (probably fake) from the homeowner for him saving their lives. Its disgusting!

I believe he is Cananadan and works through the courts and insurance companies over there. Have to have some drama to keep the show alive.

My understanding is that all the false drama on the Holmes shows, the tear it all down stuff, benefits the homeowner because the show foots the bill. Meanwhile, Mike gets to pat himself on the back for doing such a fine job. If the ratings justify the money spent, it's happy, happy, happy all around.

There's that show with the mother & daughter who flip houses after they remodel them. My wife likes that show too. But, the two women don't really do all that much work. They have several guys who do most of the remodeling. It seems the two women are the brains behind the flip, not so much the labor. I got tired of that show after suffering through a couple episodes.
