What Lb test wire would you use for small game, ie: Rabbits, Squirrels for a survival type snare?

Simple picture wire with a slip knot tied will do the job.

Bass Pro/Cabelas sell 36" black or silver wire leaders for $4/10, thought that might work at 60 lb test? What's picture wire rated?

The thing with picture wire is the knot sticks in the softer wire acting more like a lock stiffer wire might not “ lock” like soft wire will. If it holds a good size picture it should hold a rabbit. Tie off high it works better that way.

If it were me, I'd forget the wire and get some 3/64 snare cable in 7x7 twist, with a Grawes 3/64 mink lock.
That would be a real setup, and squirrel, rabbit nightmare.

I've read that 22-24 gauge brass wire is used mostly for squirrels and rabbits. There's someone on here, from NY I think that posted an excellent tutorial on squirrel snaring a few years ago. It might be in the archives.
I wonder if tap dancers walk into a room, look at the floor, and think, I'd tap that. I wonder about things.....

I would go will 7x7 1/16 with a cam lock. You could snare squirrels to deer and everything in between, with the same snare in a survival situation.

Everybody here uses the brass 22 ga wire.I have used that forever. Most marten break it if caught.
Forget that fear of gravity-get a little savagery in your life.

In a survival situation, you can also use the picture wire for building shelters, and binding together makeshift clothes.

This is the ticket and cheap as dirt A picture won't flop around fighting and biting the wire.
