The wolf huggers will be all over that claiming a new rare subspecies and call for a trapping ban on all coyotes and wolves to protect it. It's very rare, But I totally agree with BOCO  w

I'm pretty curious as to how it gets to be 80% coyote and 20% wolf? If a wolf and a coyote have a puppy that's 50%? Then that Coy wolf has puppies with another coyote. Wouldn't that make it 25%? From what I understand different pups can carry different percentages of wolf genes.Im no expert just what I have read and seen on tv. That is the way I understand it, genes don't come out evenly balanced.

Gotta ask
How and why was the DNR involved They get involved because they want to fine you for shooting a wolf ,It is twice what our coyotes weigh here and word travels fast a 39 # coyote is the biggest I ever got in 50 years

The warden is an anti or it’s his buddy that shot it and he doesn’t want to have to give him a ticket for shooting a wolf so we call it a coy wolf,

One thing I do know is that game wardens aren't geneticists or wildlife biologists and that the State of Minnesota doesn't have the dedicated funds to perform a genetic test every time somebody whacks a large coyote. Cat catcher has probably hit closer to the truth. I still say it's FAKE NEWS and bad precedent to use that word that should not be spoken by trappers........EVER !!! w
