I like the cci standard velocity. Real quiet for suppressors.

Don't the Stingers tear up your squirrels? I didn't require high velocity for squirrels when I was a kid. I often used shorts. Are shorts still made?

Junk won’t store as well as good ammo will from what I have found. I had some cheap Xperts that over time could not cycle the slide on me auto pistol. Then I had a brick of Federal high power that still have a lot of zip in the cycles no problem. If your going to shoot it up the no biggie if your saving ammo for the big day buy the good stuff.

Federal has several bulk boxes now with rebates the last 2 boxes of 1600 in the box, seen some of 1,000 rounds so it’s out there.

CCI mini-mags are my go to for an all around ammo. I'll buy any real cheap stuff too just to let my boy shoot, except Aguila! I don't know what they use for powder in them but the smell it puts off makes me sick to my stomach. sick

I prefer .22 HP 27 gr. shorts from CCI for my Beretta 950 Minx for dispatch rounds on trapped critters.

if I am just plinking CCI Blazer in particular with my semi auto 22 pistol

if I am shooting for score CCI Standard Velocity

If I need to be Quiet CCI Quiet

federal bulk pack 36gr copper plate hollow points or Winchester bulk pack 36gr copper plate hollopoints are fine for dispatch duties been hording quantities of each for a while bought them when I could at a good price and you never knew what your next box of ammo would be.

The standard round is plenty for dispatch, I have shorts that I have used in the past for cage traps it’s a close shot really.

how you store it is very important.

unlike center fire ammo that has primers and bullets pressed in so tight you can run them through the laundry and they still fire.

22 amo uses a rebated bullet and they are not in tight on most

in a dry climate controlled house , better yet in an ammo can put in when dry or with some discant packs.

I have even considered vacuum packing.

in the paper box riding around in a van for a year will more than double the failure to fire rate of other wise good 22 ammo. had a case of 22 federal auto match ride around in the van for a year , 2-3 duds in a 250 round box turned into 7-14 in a box still only 1% to 4% but when a box of 250 is 25 magazines when nearly half your magazines have a dud in them it it gets annoying.

Winchester 40gr (Powerpoints) fly best out of my 1022s. Seems the higher velocity they are, the looser the group.

When I was a kid you could buy shorts cheap as heck. My old Remington 550-1 would hold 22 of the darn things.....nearly an assault weapon. I used to shoot a few squirrels with them and the occasional cottontail. Nowadays shorts are more than long rifle ammo, if you can even find any.
