I running snares in a hot coyote location. Has I looked in one set I had a very noticeable burn circle. But no animal. Found my snare support but everything else was gone. I figured it out fast and got very upset. After I made my rounds I decided to hang a few more. I couldn't help but go back to catch location. I walked past catch circle and about 40 to 50 yards was a deer carcass. Setting around here was obvious. I went back and tried looking were it would've ran off to and was just baffled. I looked and looked and couldn't find sign. As I forgot some things were I was setting I had to go back and found the biggest male coyote I've ever seen. Only got about 20 yards and crawled fense and got snagged in thickets. Just like with deer they very close to where u got em and u always walk right past em.

Assume you are in the sandy soil portion of The Good Life and I have went to disposables in sand as I even lost some double staked ones this year (and that was with a trap on a foot so only 3 cylinders were engaged). Buy or make a cheap disposable for use on the real sandy spots. Use two if in doubt just like stakes and rest easier. Besides I can't see that good anymore... LOL.... the mike

That area is not sandy. Around crop field in trees. I've caught numerous before. Even a couple in that same spot. And never even had a worry about that. And it couldn't have even sat for half a day
