From what I've heard the Yukon Quest is a top shelf dog race it's on my bucket list of things I'd like to see along with visiting Whitehorse again it's been a very long time since I was last there.
Thank you for sharing the pictures with us .

It was 24 below. Cold enough to keep the athletes (dogs) from overheating.

Awesome information Pete...thanks!!
Someone should have given your Mom a nice trail cot...Wow she was Tough You have no idea how tough she was....! My Mom graduated from the Vet School at Cornell in 1942. In those days it was not like now; there were NO lady vets! A reporter on the YQ trail once asked her: "You were a pioneer in your field, Dr. Buist. How do you feel about the Womens' Liberation movement?" My Mom looked at her and quietly said: "Sweetie, there are those that talk about it and then there are those that DO it!" She was a real pis ser! Pete

Very interesting! Dog sledding has always been an interest of mine. As a kid we had a few dogs that did well pulling a sled and remember having so much. I hope you will keep us posted with the journey it is very interesting and not an easy thing to do. Thanks

I out of curiosity followed along on the map on the trail that's some interesting country they are going through Pete I now have a better understanding about what we talked about in the past when comparing the two dog sled races .
From what I read there's 4 teams around 220 miles out it's a shame that this race doesn't get the attention from the sports TV shows as long as it doesn't ruin it.
